A: Good question, film transfers to DVD are a at 4x3 ratio and of course if we transfer to BD Blu-ray DVD there will be a black bar either side of the image to retain the actual film ratio.
Q: Is there any point in film transfer to BD Blu-ray disk?
A: Yes there is, DV video has a colour depth of 4.1.1 per pixel and HD has 4.2.2 colour depth and of course finer detail reproduction that allows for larger screens or plasma TV viewing with outstanding viewing of richer colours.
Q: Can you see the difference between DVD and BD playback?
A: In a side by side comparison,yes the quality of the images is superior in every respect.

A: No, blu-ray uses a blue laser whereas CD and DBD use a red laser beam to read the disk. Therefore red laser has a wider beam than blu-ray which is able to focus more narrow beams so more data can be stored on the same diameter disk. But, DVD can be played on BD Blu-ray players.
